White Water Rafting
The New Zealand landscape provides perfect conditions for rafting,
with a mountainous interior feeding a myriad of fast flowing rivers.
In the North Island, rafting rivers are mainly found in the Bay of Plenty and Hawks Bay.
The South Island offers rafting around Queenstown, Christchurch and the West Coast.
Rafting is an exciting mix of teamwork and personal challenge, while at each second
some of the most breathtaking natural scenery you'll ever see slips past you.
We are proud to recommend our partners Queenstown Rafting.
Grading of rivers
New Zealand rafting rivers are graded from 1 to 5, with 1 for beginners, 5 for the very experienced.
There is a universal grading system for rivers that covers most countries, including New Zealand.
The
New Zealand Rafting Association maintains
a
map
of New Zealand Rivers and their gradings, as well as descriptions of scenery and local towns from which
to book tours.
No matter what your personal taste, New Zealand has white water rafting to challenge and enthrall you.
