DAY 1 - Wellington

Kia ora and welcome to ‘Te Ika-a-Maui’ New Zealand’s North Island! Our tour kicks off with a fun evening as we our  friendly Tour Manager and discuss the exciting days ahead of us! (Dinner)

DAY 2- Wellington

This morning we visit TE PAPA, the National Museum of New Zealand and renowned for being bicultural, scholarly, innovative and fun.  Learn about the Treaty of Waitangi (New Zealand’s founding document), hear the stories of the Moa and Kiwi and see the colossal Squid! This afternoon we visit ZEALANDIA, a fenced sanctuary showing 80 million years of history and New Zealand’s unique conservative story. The sanctuary houses endangered species such as Takahe, Kaka, Little Brown Kiwi and Bellbird and we learn about these birds and the importance of the native plants which ensure the birds survival.  (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 3- Wellington - Taupo

First stop this morning is WETA STUDIOS were we take a tour of the studios where Avatar, Lord of the Rings, King Kong and other legendary films. We learn a little about the skills required to produce movies such as the Hobbit and see how these creatures were created.  We depart Wellington and travel north to Taupo via the National Park with fantastic views of Mount Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe. We visit the Bungy Jump site over the beautiful Waikato River where you have an opportunity to jump or watch the others!  Tonight we relax in THERMAL HOT POOLS.  (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 4- Taupo - Rotorua

Our first visit is the spectacular HUKA FALLS situated on the beautiful Waikato River. Continuing north we stop to view BOILING MUD POOLS before arriving in Rotorua, famous for its thermal pools, Maori history and culture. We visit the Government Gardens for ourGROUP PHOTO before we experience the SKYLINE GONDOLA and three fast rides down on the LUGE. Tonight we learn the famous Maori haka dance and songs. (Breakfast)

DAY 5- Rotorua

Our first stop of the day is TE PUIA where we learn about village life in pre European times, see boiling mud and steaming pools and learn why this occurs.  Later is your free time to perhaps try White Water Rafting, Zorbing or just soak in the hot mineral waters of the Polynesian Spa. Tonight we enter a very special MAORI VILLAGE and discover Maori art forms, ancient rituals and traditions, experience thrilling song and dance and then an authentic MAORI HANGI. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 6- Rotorua – Hot Water Beach

We farewell Rotorua and head to middle earth to take a tour of the MOVIE SET FROM THE HOBBIT AND LORD OF THE RINGS,  to see the hobbit holes, the famous Party Tree and Bag End – home to Bilbo and Frodo. We travel onto the Coromandel and Whitianga where we meet a local artist and create our very own bone carving. After finishing your creation we travel to hot water beach where we take our shovels and dig hot water spring!  Tonight, we have a group competition!  (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 7- Hot Water Beach to Paihia

We say goodbye to Coromandel and travel north. We visit the AH REED KAURI PARK where we take a canopy walkway and the last major battle between British Forces and local Maori was fought. We have time for a walk along the beach before we enjoy our home cooked dinner at our centrally located accommodation in Paihia. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 8- Paihia

Today lots of options. Take a coach trip to the top of the North Island, Cape Reinga which drives  along the famous 90 Mile Beach (actually only 61 miles!) stopping at various points of interest including time to try sand boarding. Alternatively, you may like to try swimming with dolphins or simply enjoy your free day at the beach or exploring this delightful town.  (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 9- Paihia – Auckland

We travel to the diving beach resort of Tutukaka and  join “A PERFECT DAY OCEAN CRUISE” where we cruise to the Poor Knights  Islands marine reserve.  We don our wetsuits and enjoy the wonders of the deep, SNORKELLING through caves,  KAYAKING,swimming, sea mammal-spotting, and some  great food. Tonight we travel south to New Zealand’s biggest city, known as the ‘City of Sails’ – Auckland. (Breakfast, Lunch)

DAY 10- Auckland

This morning we visit the SKYTOWER for fantastic views of the city and some of you may wish to experience the 192m Sky Jump from the top! Enjoy your free afternoon in NZ’s largest city; bungy jump off the bridge, catch up on any last minute shopping or visit the famous Auckland Museum.  Tonight we enjoy our last night together with a fun farewell and awards presentation. (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 11- Auckland - Home

This morning we drop you off at Auckland Airport with some amazing new memories. (Breakfast)
